Public works reports resurfacing, patching, and sidewalk bids for Amelia County

Adam Brooks, introduced as the assistant residency administrator, gave a monthly public‑works report with several near‑term operations and project updates.
Brooks said the first rounds of primary and secondary mowing are complete and crews regraded and dragged Stony Point Road; both Stony Point and Bunker Hill Road sections have been prepared for resurfacing. He also reported two completed pipe replacements on Green Street and Drunkard Road and noted a patching operation at Buckskin Creek is complete and awaiting surface treatment. "That should begin, late July," he said referring to surface treatment work.
Brooks added the county’s Amelia sidewalk project (UPC 121962) received three bids; a low bid came in within an awardable range and staff will likely recommend an award. He said Colony will perform patching at the Dennisville/5 Forks intersection beginning July 20 and complete by July 23 with daytime flagging. Supervisors raised truck safety concerns on several secondary roads; Brooks said staff will review mitigation options and potential speed enforcement.
The board asked for follow‑up details on schedule and awarded contractor recommendations; Brooks said staff will return with recommendations and contact people for ongoing safety reviews.
