Staff presented a draft Park Commission work plan for 2024–25 modeled on the Recreation Commission's format. Where dates were available, staff slotted updates into upcoming meetings and described the work plan as a working document for commissioner input.
Commissioners proposed adding a review of the heritage-tree program and new nomination criteria, suggesting discussion beginning in December to allow time to analyze the past five years of nominations. Staff agreed to add the heritage-tree review and to return with an overview of past nominations and possible refinements.
Commissioners also asked where the sustainability consultant work and the climate action plan presentation would appear on the calendar. Staff said the sustainable park practices RFP update is scheduled for November and the climate action plan presentation by the sustainability program manager is expected in January. Commissioners recommended linking the irrigation master plan with the sustainability consultant to avoid conflicting or redundant work.
No formal votes were taken; staff will adjust the work plan and return with updated calendar items and supporting background materials.
