On June 18 the Smyth County Board of Supervisors approved Budget Amendment #7, totaling $5,002,000. County Administrator Shawn M. Utt presented the amendment and said the $2,000 in grant funding was for the Commonwealth Attorney’s junior attorney program while the remainder would support several School Board needs, including state‑funded support for virtual students, reduced dual‑enrollment costs and additional resources from ESSER reimbursements.
