The budget committee recommended that Smyth County pursue a contract review with Avenity for a new financial system for the commissioner and treasurer offices; the full board voted to authorize staff to request and present a draft contract for legal and technical review. Committee notes said the existing Edmonds/AS400 setup has data‑integration and vehicle‑categorization issues and that Avenity (presented as an industry option) would provide online payment options and improved address and mailing functions.
