The board reviewed proposed changes to Commission regulation 5.29 affecting archery, visual and special-assistance disability permits. Staff explained the main proposal would reduce the renewal burden for people with permanent disabilities while clarifying which medical providers can certify disability status and tightening language around equipment (crossbow, scopes) and eligibility.
Public commenter Wyatt Mesna told the CAB the petition initially sought longer intervals between required doctor's notes because repeated notes were expensive and had been abused under prior practice. "So the doctor's notes were getting abused," he said, and staff described revisions limiting acceptable providers to physicians with appropriate specialty knowledge. After questions about crossbow use and eyesight criteria, Justin French moved to support the draft changes as presented; Michael Mora seconded and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
