Crow Wing County board updates data-request policy to limit repeat requests

The Crow Wing County Board on July 22 approved a minor but specific change to its data-request policy, required by statute to be reviewed annually. The county administrator said the policy, adopted in September 2024, now includes a provision that prevents repeat requests from a requester who fails to pick up prepared records within five days of notice.
"We will not prepare any additional requests for that person until such time as that 1st request has been closed," the county administrator told the board. The administrator said the change is designed to limit repeated requests that absorb staff time when requesters do not collect prepared records. On a motion by Commissioner Kory, seconded by Commissioner Loeppke, the board approved the update by voice vote.
