The Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution (No. 1204-07-14-2026) supporting a joint Competitive Highway Bridge Program (CHBP) grant and authorized a 28E Cooperative Agreement for the FY26 CHBP project. The resolution lists bridge FHWA numbers 191921 and 194671 as Jackson County’s included structures in a bundle submitted with other counties in the State of Iowa. Motion to approve the 28E agreement and the resolution was made by Supervisor Nin Flagel and seconded by Supervisor Mike Steines; Supervisors Don Schwenker, Mike Steines and Nin Flagel voted aye.
Engineer Jayden Scheckel presented the update to the board prior to the motions. The resolution was recorded in Resolution Book 5, page 397, and the Board authorized the Chair to sign the related letter of support. The action positions the county to participate in state-managed competitive grant funding for bridge replacement or rehabilitation pending award.
