Zakk Hess, Wayne County GIS Manager, told the committee he has been working with the Highway Department to modernize field data collection by converting paper processes to digital workflows. He said the changes will streamline data collection and improve efficiency across field operations.
Hess said GIS will support the Wallace Foundation project by hosting and deploying surveys and assisting with data analysis. He described plans to convert the Mental Health Department's static community resources guide into a tabular, mappable digital format to improve access. The county is awaiting confirmation from Tyler Technologies about staffing to complete the CAD workflow transition.
