Yates County posts final assessment rolls; appeals window and digital records work outlined

Meghan Kincaid, Real Property, told the Finance Committee that the final assessment rolls "Came out on July 1st." She explained that the final roll will include changes from Grievance Day and described the options owners have to challenge assessments: small claims or Article 7 actions can be filed within 30 days of the final roll and must be filed at the County Clerk’s office with required paperwork filed in a timely manner.

Kincaid summarized the department’s Q2 operational goals and schedules: training with VHB to transfer parcel-joining work (to begin in August after 2026 tax maps are finalized), and ongoing work to load assessment rolls into Laserfiche (over 90% complete for final assessment rolls beginning with roll year 2001). She said staff are compiling data and templates needed for digital property record cards and listed upcoming workloads including school tax preparation, property transfers and budget prep.
