Facing a June 20 deadline, the Lawrence County Commission authorized staff to submit county comments on the U.S. Forest Service Benchmark Project so the county can maintain standing in the federal review process.

Chairman Eric Jennings told the board the deadline for comments on the U.S. Forest Service Benchmark Project was June 20, 2026 and the county needed to act so it "can maintain standing and continue to be involved in the process," Jennings said.
