Council authorizes solicitation of RFPs for Texas Water Development Board grants

The City of Gregory voted to authorize staff to solicit requests for proposals for grant-administration services tied to funds administered by the Texas Water Development Board. Council discussion identified GrantWorks as the likely administrator and noted several grant-match scenarios including a potential 0% or 4% match.

Staff explained the authorization does not award a contract; it only allows the city to participate and apply for available water and sewer infrastructure funding. "This is not giving them a contract or anything. It's just allowing us to say ... we want to participate in the grant," a staff member said during the discussion.

A council member moved to approve the solicitation of RFPs for grant-administration services; the motion passed with recorded affirmative votes from four council members. Members noted the approval enables staff to pursue grant opportunities, and any resulting contracts would be returned to the council for further review and action.

Councilmembers highlighted the potential benefit for waterline and sewer projects and asked staff to publicize the solicitation so the community and potential proposers are aware of the opportunity.
