Nick, the building department head, told the council the department’s mission is to protect health and safety through codes and permitting and introduced his staff including assistant inspectors and a recently hired fire inspector. He said the department has stepped up evening and weekend code enforcement and has already issued hundreds of quality-of-life violations citywide.
