Onslow County opens teaching kitchen at new Enrichment Center, Extension outlines programs

Jessica Gardner, Onslow County Cooperative Extension director, gave viewers a first look at the teaching kitchen inside the new Onslow County Enrichment Center, describing it as "a brand new state of the art teaching kitchen" built around four cooking stations and new technology to support both in-person and virtual programming.
Gardner said the extension will expand hands-on offerings for children and adults and highlighted a native-plant program scheduled for August 19. "The first 50 people that sign up will get to take home a free native plant," she said, adding that the program will pair a guest speaker with practical guidance so residents can implement native planting at home. She also thanked master gardeners and 4‑H staff — "our master gardeners have been busy ... maintaining the beautiful gardens" — and said the center will host more camps and training opportunities once it opens to the public. The extension will post registration details on its website and social media, Gardner said.
