Student mentors propose Instagram outreach and peer support for youth mental health

Blues Prevention, a student peer-mentor team in the Semester at City Hall program, presented data and outreach plans to the Sacramento City Council. The group said a survey of 117 respondents showed 41.9% of youth do not feel comfortable talking to someone they trust about mental health and that 33.3% prefer to receive information via social media. "Our goal is to offer a safe space where they do feel comfortable," a presenter said when asked how social media could be used responsibly.
