The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on July 28 adopted county text amendment 26007, a countywide zoning standard that establishes criteria developers must meet when proposing projects in Lancaster County. "This a text amendment is a county wide standard that will identify the criteria for people wishing to make developments throughout Lancaster County," a presenter said during the meeting.
A board member explained the action was a follow-up to a July 21 public hearing and stressed that the amendment does not approve any specific project: "This does not regard any specific project. Those would have to come forward through a special permit process, at which time they would be examined individually on their merits and on the concerns listed about them." The motion to adopt the resolution carried on roll call.
The change changes county zoning regulations (articles and sections provided in exhibits) by setting a uniform standard for future development applications. County staff said special permits will continue to be the mechanism for review and that each project will be examined individually under the new criteria. No member of the public spoke on the item during the follow-up action.
