Board accepts donations and hires spring coaching staff

At the Feb. 17 meeting the ISD 2071 School Board accepted donations and approved spring coaching hires as part of its consent agenda. The board accepted $3,125 from Arcadium Tattoo for the Art Department and $80 from Afton Gross for Karla Caldwell's classroom.
The consent agenda also recorded hiring of spring coaches: Head coaches named included John Madsen (baseball), Tony Parsons (softball), Doug Burns (track), and Tony Malwitz (golf). Multiple assistant and junior-high coaches were approved and volunteers were noted. The minutes record the hires and that the consent agenda motion carried unanimously.
These approvals allow coaches to begin planning and to be added to payroll and activity rosters for the 2026 season.
