The Rockford Public School District Board of Education voted on Jan. 21, 2026 to direct the superintendent and administration to develop recommendations for discontinuing or curtailing programs and positions to reduce district expenditures. The resolution text states, "WHEREAS, the financial condition of the school district dictates that the school board must reduce expenditures immediately," and the board declared the resolution passed.
