Board unanimously backs Clyde Rood for OSBA Board Position 10

The Santiam Canyon School Board voted unanimously on Nov. 12 to support Clyde Rood for Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) Board of Directors Position 10.
"Mr. Anderson motioned to vote for Candidate Rood for the Board of Directors Position 10," the minutes record; Mr. Childress seconded the motion. During discussion Mrs. Allison said she had been more impressed by Luhui Whitebear based on a meeting Whitebear ran at the OSBA conference, but the roll call vote completed by Mrs. Follis showed the motion passed 5-0.
Rood had addressed the board in public comment earlier, outlining goals for the position and saying his primary focus would be maintaining open lines of communication with boards across the region. The board did not record an amendment or further conditions tied to the endorsement.
The board's endorsement will be recorded in the OSBA election process; no additional board action was taken at the Nov. 12 meeting related to this endorsement.
