Board agrees parameters for Targeted Feedback Survey, selects three standards and respondent-selection process

At the Jan. 8 work session the board discussed a Targeted Feedback Survey (TFS) approach distinct from a full 360 review: the TFS is standards-based, concise, and intentionally selects respondents rather than using random sampling. Board members agreed to "Use Standards 3, 4, and 6 for quantitative survey questions" and to capture communication-related feedback (Standard 5) via open-ended qualitative questions.
The board agreed to prepare separate internal and external versions of the survey—an education-specific internal instrument and a plain-language external instrument—and to intentionally identify respondents. Board members will submit suggested names to the Chair, who with the superintendent will compile a balanced list and share it with the board prior to OSBA distribution. The group set a target of about 50 respondents, aiming for approximately a 2:1 ratio of internal to external participants and prioritizing individuals who have informed perspectives on system-level leadership.
The board emphasized the TFS purpose is growth and evidence-based evaluation rather than scrutiny. The finalized respondent list and survey instrument are to be coordinated through the Chair and superintendent before OSBA administration.
