Council approves ADU code amendments creating unrestricted pathway

The Breckenridge Town Council approved an amendment to the development code on July 28 that creates an unrestricted accessory dwelling unit (ADU) development pathway while keeping the existing deed-restricted option.
Cliff Cross, Planner II, told council the code amendments on second reading mirror the first-reading text and that no changes had been made since the prior meeting. "Before you this evening, we will have the 2nd reading for the code amendments regarding ADUs," Cross said during the regular session presentation.
There was no public comment on the ordinance at the hearing and council members moved, seconded and approved the measure by roll call. The council record reflects unanimous support on second reading. Staff will implement the code amendment through the town’s development-review processes and update permitting information for applicants.
