Tech Center outlines funding audit, industry alignment and internship goals

Tech Center leadership presented three priorities: audit funding streams (local funds, Perkins, performance-based BNP and other grants) to maximize program support; enhance curricular relevance and student readiness toward industry standards by working with advisory committees; and expand internship and entrepreneurship opportunities so more students access real-world experiences. Staff gave examples of recent investments, including upgraded auto-tech bays and forklift equipment purchased to align student training with local employers.
The presentation also set measurable ambitions, such as implementing at least two new industry-standard technologies and creating or revitalizing five local employer partnerships for placements and apprenticeships. Staff said they would pursue a five-year spending plan and optimize grant funding to support these goals.
