Mt. Hood Community College updates district on bond-funded projects, timeline through 2028–29

Dr. Lisa Skari, president of Mt. Hood Community College, updated the Gresham-Barlow board on the college's bond-funded projects and partnership work on April 2. Skari said bond proceeds have funded roofing, track resurfacing, ADA parking improvements and nine repaved parking lots, and that most work will be complete by 2028–29.
"Through their foundation they are providing almost $1 million in scholarships this year," Skari said, and she noted MHCC served over 18,000 students last year, with about 75% attending part time. Board members and MHCC representatives described a community oversight committee and public benchmarks to ensure transparency on spending.
MHCC officials also described investments intended to expand instructional capacity and community-serving spaces, including an aquatics retractable dome scheduled for 2026. The college invited district partners to follow progress at mhcc.edu/bond and to engage in planned celebrations during the institution's 60th anniversary year.
