District outlines CTE pathways expansion; reports 99% graduation rate for CTE completers

Santos explained the framework is built around four stages—awareness, exploration, preparation and transition—and said the district currently operates four of six pathways, with Fine Arts at Springwater Trail and Natural Resources under development. She described how elementary and middle school activities build early awareness and how high-school CTE coursework and competitions support career-connected learning.
The presentation included performance data highlighted by district staff: "CTE completers, which are students earning 3 or more CTE credits, have a 99% graduation rate," Santos said, compared with a statewide graduation rate she cited near 81%. Board members asked about cross-school access and admissions; staff said transportation and master-schedule constraints limit students from easily taking courses at another high school, and that transfers remain an option for motivated students.
District staff also said they will watch the impacts of Senate Bill 3 on CTE funding and continue marketing efforts to increase enrollment in pathways.
