Comal County authorizes sheriff to sign license-plate-reader MOU with DPS

The Comal County Commissioners Court approved a memorandum of understanding and license-plate-reader (LPR) user agreement between the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, authorizing the sheriff to sign the agreement and giving local law enforcement access to the DPS LPR database.
"If y'all approve sheriff to sign it, it'll give us access to the DPS license plate reader database, which is a fantastic service to the sheriff's office. It's a great enforcement tool," said Captain Smith during the presentation. The court approved the agreement on motion; the LPR access was presented as an enforcement resource for the sheriff’s office.
