Pendleton County nears NextGen 911 switch; generator installation set for Aug. 3

Emergency Services Coordinator Rick Gillespie told the Pendleton County Commission on July 21 that the county is nearing completion of its NextGen 911 project and was "testing this week." He said Raleigh County recently upgraded its system and "had donated all of their CAD System equipment" to Pendleton County because both counties use the same CAD platform.
Gillespie also reported that a concrete pad has been poured at the Pendleton County General Services Center for a backup generator and that "August 3 is the estimated date to place the generator." The upgrade and donated equipment are intended to modernize call-taking and dispatch operations for the county's emergency services.
Commissioners did not vote on procurement at the meeting; they later approved a separate, related 911 carryover budget revision reflecting a $866 decrease (see separate budget article). Gillespie said testing will continue before full cutover.
