Board approves Canton Christmas Festival on courthouse grounds
Canton Tourism requested use of the Madison County courthouse grounds for a Christmas festival running Oct. 12–Jan. 29; the board approved the request by voice vote after attendees described expected community benefits and a related local film project.

Laurie Prince, special events manager for Canton Tourism, asked the Madison County Board of Supervisors for permission to use the courthouse grounds for the Canton Christmas Festival from Oct. 12 through Jan. 29 of next year. "We come before you today to ask for use of the courthouse grounds for our very important Christmas festival," Prince said, explaining that the community response to prior initiatives has been strong.
