Board appoints adjuncts for THRIVE program and approves NHS adjunct for ELA

Trustees approved adjunct assignments for the THRIVE learning collaborative (Bryan Kauk and Laura Howell) and approved adjuncting DeAnna Pitman to teach 9th-grade English I for FY26.
The board approved adjunct appointments for the THRIVE learning collaborative and a separate high-school adjunct at its July and August meetings. On Aug. 4 the board adjuncted Bryan Kauk to teach Chemistry and Physics and Laura Howell to teach multiple high-school humanities and art classes through THRIVE; the motion passed 4–0 with one absence.
At the July 22 meeting the board also adjuncted Newcastle High School teacher DeAnna Pitman for FY26 to teach 6–12 ELA (specifically to teach 9th grade), noting she is currently certified 6–8 ELA. Each adjunct action was recorded by motion and carried by the board.
