Fire Chief Powell told council the Greenville Fire Department’s budget would rise from roughly $9.3 million to about $9.9 million next year, driven primarily by a proposed 5% pay increase and higher health‑insurance costs. "This next year coming up, we... a total basically, a total increase of $600,000," Powell said, and said the department added three firefighter positions to ensure four‑person ladder‑truck staffing.
