Commission certifies language amendments for solar and wind conditional‑use rules

Land use director Eric Bingham summarized certification of the proposed amendments to conditional‑use rules for solar and wind energy facilities following the public comment period.
Bingham said the changes are intended to make wind and solar provisions consistent, address wildlife concerns — including sage‑grouse migration corridors — and require coordination with Wyoming Game and Fish and adherence to the governor's sage‑grouse executive order. He also said the amendments add permit requirements for meteorological (MET) towers, and include reclamation and abandonment standards for towers and supporting infrastructure. “So now they need to coordinate better with the Wyoming Game and Fish,” Bingham said.
Commissioners opened a public hearing and heard no comment. Commissioner Slaughter moved to certify resolution 25‑12‑CC‑01 to adopt the language changes; Commissioner Jones seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Land‑use staff will implement the amended text per the county’s administrative schedule.
