Staff said the draft "adds the exclusion of South Fulton Parkway and revising the time frame and geographic area of the permitted architectural style," and pointed to an illustrative figure for clarity.
Council and commission members emphasized keeping discretion for different thoroughfares and village contexts. One commissioner reminded the group the goal was balancing limited growth with rural character: "...as a means of balancing limited growth areas with the goal of preservation of rural character along the city's thoroughfares," staff said.
Participants agreed the code should limit where certain buffer exceptions apply (for example, not allowing them on scenic byways or the parkway) and that illustrations would help apply the standard consistently. Staff will produce revised graphics and tighter language describing where exceptions and council-determined alternative standards can apply.
