Commissioners award asphalt contract, reject dumpster bids and table several materials bids

The Rogers County Board on June 1 awarded the 2027-04 Asphalt Paving Services contract (07/01/2026–09/30/2026) to Brent Bell Construction after Purchasing Agent Samantha Sherman reported that 27 invitations were sent and two bids were received; Sherman said Brent Bell was the only qualified bid. Commissioner Dan DeLozier moved to award to Brent Bell Construction; Commissioner Steve Hendrix seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous roll call.
Separately, the board rejected all bids for 2027-02 (30-yard dumpsters) and ordered a rebid after discussing the item that had been tabled at the May 26 meeting. The board also tabled item 2027-03 (HMHL, HMCL & Liquid Asphalt, three-month term) and item 2027-05 (Election Board Ballot, 12-month term) for one week. Purchasing Agent Samantha Sherman told the board that "28 invitations to bid were sent out and 12 bids were received" for 2027-03 and that "5 invitations to bid were sent out and 2 bids were received" for 2027-05.
The board also approved letting four solicitations (2027-06 through 2027-09) for janitorial, visual inspection, herbicide vegetation management and heavy-duty towing services.
