Fair board drops token plan, approves Square and checkpoints for beer sales

The Teton County Fair Board rejected tokens for beer sales and unanimously approved a cash-management plan requiring Square transactions, 1–2 nightly cash collection checkpoints at beer tents and daily checkpoints at the beer garden, and cash logs after consultation with County Treasurer Katie Smits.

At its April 13 meeting, the Teton County Fair Board voted unanimously to abandon a proposed token system for beer tents and the beer garden at the 2026 fair and adopt a cash-management plan reviewed by County Treasurer Katie Smits. Elaine moved to recommend the alternative plan; Britney seconded and the motion passed.
