A representative of Jones & Mill Engineering told commissioners the firm can help Montezuma County update and host its land‑use code, prepare tracked‑change drafts and scale work to the county’s budget or procurement rules.
"We have a planner. Her name's Kendall... they do this every day all day," the consultant said, describing firm capabilities including planners, code redlines and a web hosting platform that keeps the ordinance digital and cross‑referenced. Planner Kendall Welch recommended adding a master land‑use table to the ordinance to make permitted, conditional and prohibited uses clear across zoning districts.
Commissioners stressed budget limits and procurement policy; staff said if the scope exceeds procurement thresholds the county will put the work out to bid. The consultant offered to provide rough numbers and examples and to pursue grant support; Kendall said she can share sample work from other communities.
Next steps: the consultant will provide sample materials and cost options and staff will coordinate with Don (county counsel) to format a scope for procurement review.
