Public Works previewed a draft comprehensive traffic safety action plan developed under the USDOT SS4A program; staff said the plan identifies a high-injury network from 2020–2024 data, emphasizes equity overlays, recommends countermeasures from engineering to enforcement (including photo enforcement), and will be posted for 30 days of public comment ahead of an October adoption vote.

Jason Kennedy, senior traffic engineer, presented the draft comprehensive traffic safety action plan the Traffic Division developed to support Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant opportunities. Kennedy said the plan used a five-year crash history (2020–2024) to identify a high-injury network concentrated on arterials and collectors and that his team received more than 300 survey responses as part of community engagement. "We're going to adopt a vision zero goal to eliminate fatal and serious crashes by 2044," Kennedy said when summarizing the draft leadership-commitment language that will appear in a formal resolution coming to council in October.
