Board approves deck replacement variance at Spirit Lake property
The board unanimously approved a 9-foot front-yard variance for a deck replacement and safety improvements at 17049 255th Ave after the homeowners and a neighbor described safety concerns from deteriorating stairs.

Homeowners Ken and Kim Griffith told the Dickinson County Board of Adjustment they purchased a home with an existing 11-foot deck and want to replace and extend it because the stairs are deteriorating and family members have fallen. Ken Griffith explained the deck was built under an earlier setback regime and the family seeks a safety improvement that would move the deck roughly 3 feet outward and add a gate at the top.
