Board approves variable‑term waivers for four teacher hires lacking English‑learner authorization

Director of Human Resources Robert French presented Variable Term Waiver requests for Rodney Von Wagner, Jennifer Varner, Matthew Sconce and Jessica Hess to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. French explained a Variable Term Waiver is requested when no fully credentialed and appropriately authorized candidate is available and the candidate will continue to pursue credential requirements during the waiver period.
"A Variable Term Waiver is requested when an employer must fill a position for which no fully credentialed and appropriately authorized candidate is available," French said. The board approved each waiver by roll call vote.
Trustees approved all four waivers unanimously; Human Resources will submit the waiver applications to the Commission and monitor candidates' progress toward required authorizations.
