FRTA outlines expanded demand-response pilot; Select Board requests usage data

Franklin Regional Transit Authority told the Northfield Select Board a grant-funded demand-response pilot may extend from two years to four–five years and currently provides seven-day-a-week senior rides free of charge through a Turners Falls driver contract.
Michael Perreault of the Franklin Regional Transit Authority briefed the Select Board on a Demand Response and Access grant and an additional funding source that could extend the pilot program from two years to four or five years. He said FRTA contracted with driver services in Turners Falls to expand service to seven days a week for seniors in Bernardston and Northfield "free of charge to those seniors." The Board asked that FRTA send usage data to the Town Administrator before the next update.
Perreault said FRTA is working with FRCOG to market services and plans to post information on the Town website; he also said staffing changes in Council on Aging drivers affected the timeline for rolling out service to the general public. He offered to provide future updates either through Select Board member Dan Campbell (FRTA advisory board member) or by attending a future Select Board meeting.
