Disabled veteran seeks setback variance for pool screen enclosure for weekly VA physical therapy

Aug 26, 2025

Vicki Gray, a disabled veteran, requested a rear setback reduction from 10 to 5 feet to build a screened pool enclosure she says is needed for VA‑approved weekly physical therapy; staff recommended approval with conditions and noted the variance applies to the screen enclosure rather than the pool itself.

The full story

Staff presented LDLVAR2025‑31 seeking a reduction of rear accessory setbacks from 10 to 5 feet for a screened pool enclosure on a 0.19‑acre lot in the Willow Ridge subdivision. The pool footprint measures about 41 by 18 feet; staff said the pool itself meets setbacks but the vertical screen enclosure triggers the variance. Staff noted HOA approval is pending and that the enclosure would connect to the home but have an open roof profile so it remains an accessory structure.
