District to switch student information system to PowerSchools, district says it will save costs

Marie Shimer, director of educational services, told the board the district plans to move its Student Information System to PowerSchools because the current system lacks Oregon-specific support and state reporting features. "The District will be switching to PowerSchools as their SIS (Student Information System). Our current system is lacks in Oregon specific support and state reporting features. This change will be a cost savings to the district," Shimer reported.
Shimer said the move is intended to improve compliance with state reporting requirements and reduce long-term costs; the board received the report as part of the packet and no formal procurement action was recorded at the Nov. 10 meeting.
