Students and AVID participants urged the Budget Committee to retain the AVID college-preparation program, which they said helps close achievement gaps and supports students into postsecondary pathways. Kaycleann Gallinat, an AVID student at Sam Barlow High School, said the program has been “incredibly beneficial” and credited her AVID teacher with helping her academic progress.
