In interviews compiled by the consultant team, residents repeatedly flagged the marina as an opportunity and suggested smaller, community‑scaled investments—places to meet, remote‑work amenities, local agriculture, and more frequent charter or water‑taxi service.
Sam Humphries said the marina idea "was mentioned in every interview," and that interviewees also suggested a tech center, small commercial or industrial parks, and 'third place' amenities such as cafes and shops as ways to build more consistent visitation and local economic activity. Attendees proposed larger ideas as well—ferry service, a bridge to the mainland, rebuilding a pier and a lighthouse—but the consultants framed those as aspirational and likely requiring major funding and approvals.
Attendees questioned the reach of the interview program (some said they were not interviewed) and urged the project team to focus on a pragmatic list of 4–6 feasible, fundable actions rather than an exhaustive wish list.
