Trustees used the OSBA workshop to review the superintendent-evaluation timeline and tools. Multiple members said the board must adopt an evaluation tool and timeline in open session so the superintendent knows what criteria will be used.
Facilitator Janet Avila Medina described a five-step evaluation workbook co-developed with COSA and encouraged early planning and quarterly check-ins. Board members confirmed the evaluation deadline stipulated in the superintendent’s contract (March 15) and discussed the practical need to formalize process and possibly consult legal counsel where the contract or timelines are unclear. “They need to agree on something,” one trustee said of the board’s obligation to set an agreed process and timeline.
