Whatcom County to present stormwater/drainage study to Point Roberts committee; preliminary report due in September

The committee was told that Whatcom County Public Works and the project's engineering firm will give a drainage/stormwater presentation at the next PRCAC meeting, scheduled for the third Thursday in September.

"We will be in the dining room so that we will be able to fit some more people as well as, doing Zoom, for that presentation," the chair said, announcing the logistics for the session. A committee member later reported that the study's preliminary portion is expected in September while the finalized report with budget numbers will not be complete until December.

The chair asked that the county presentation materials and the preliminary paperwork — which he described as 67 pages long in draft — be made available to the public via online posting so residents can read the materials in advance.

Committee members expressed interest in seeing the preliminary material in September even though the full budget information is pending; the group plans to use the meeting to solicit public input and better understand options and costs once the final report is issued.
