Board votes not to install seat belts on school buses
The Van ISD Board voted unanimously April 13, 2026, to decline installation of seat belts on district buses "in accordance with SB 546." The motion, made by M. Johnson and seconded by Campbell, passed 5–0 after the operations report presented bids for installation.

The Van ISD Board of Trustees voted 5–0 April 13 to defer installation of seat belts on school buses, with Trustee M. Johnson making the motion and Trustee Campbell seconding. The motion recorded in the minutes states: "Approve motion to NOT install seat belts on school buses (in accordance with Approve SB 546) at this time."
