A district staff member explained that the targeted improvement plan (TIP) focuses on strengthening instruction and supports for historically underserved groups under domain 3 of accountability, and that a condensed version of the plan had been submitted to the Texas Education Agency. “This plan is developed in process with Forest Band Middle School, outlining specific actions that the campus and district will take to strengthen instruction, improve student outcomes, and ensure long term academic success,” the staff presenter said during the hearing.
During the action items, Trustee Wes moved to approve the Vann Middle School targeted improvement plan; Trustee Brian seconded the motion and the board voted to carry it. The approval completes the board’s review step required under federal identification rules and directs staff to move forward with implementation and continued reporting to TEA.
