Jen Engel, Middle/High School Learning Library Center (LLC) Coordinator, presented the Board with a summary of work to reimagine the library as a community hub for students. Accomplishments listed to date include weeding and reorganization of the collection, reimaging of the LLC layout, updating the Alexandria inventory system, completing Chromebook inventory, and expanding direct student and teacher support.
Engel also described enrichment programming—guest speakers, virtual tours, Olympic STEM events and a reading week—that the LLC has used to increase student engagement. Board members commended Engel for the improvements and for positioning the library as a versatile learning space rather than a passive book repository.
