Probation office credits new case-management system with easing pretrial notification burden

Stacy Stewart, representing the probation department, told the committee that salary increases and staffing shortfalls are the main drivers in her budget request but that the recently implemented Tyler case-management system has been an operational relief. "We have approximately 250 pretrial cases," she said, and described the new law that requires multiple automated text reminders; Tyler, she said, already supports automated reminders and documentation.
Stewart also said the state created an office of statewide pretrial services and that her office expects reimbursement for some pretrial expenses. "I am looking at about $5,152,000 dollars being reimbursed back to me for pretrial services that we expended last year," she said when describing potential AOIC reimbursements (figure cited in discussion; committee asked for clarification and for follow-up after her meeting with the administrative office).
