County issues multiple proclamations, honors local public servants and community groups

At the start of its Sept. 9 session the Prince William County Board of County Supervisors read a series of commendations and proclamations honoring local leaders, first responders and community organizations.
The board posthumously commended Supervisor Bob Ware and multiple local public‑safety figures, including retired Assistant Chief Lance E. McClintock and retired Major Kevin L. Hugard; family members and agency representatives accepted remarks and thanked the board. "Bob was very special to us," said Joe Passanella of the Town of Haymarket, reflecting local comments about Ware's service and legacy.
County leaders also proclaimed September observances across public‑health and civic themes: Sickle Cell Awareness Month, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Suicide Prevention Month, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Recovery Month, National Preparedness Month and Forensic Science Week. Community leaders and nonprofit representatives used the proclamations to publicize upcoming events — for example, the Heart of Gold Sickle Cell Foundation asked the board to support awareness and a town‑hall on Sept. 25.
The board took votes to adopt the proclamations and to invite honorees forward for remarks and group photos; these items were approved by unanimous consent during the meeting’s opening portion.
