Staff report: testing calendar, athletics updates and spring events

At the April 13 meeting Activity Director Mr. Hirchert updated the board on recent track and golf meets and said several extra-duty coaching positions remain open. Mr. Hirchert told the board the district will hold a multi-sports awards night on May 4 at 6:30 PM.
Elementary Principal Mrs. Klanecky and MS/HS Principal Mr. Pietrzak reviewed the spring testing and event calendar. Mrs. Klanecky said "there are lots of assessments coming up," noting NSCAS and MAP testing over the next few weeks. Mr. Pietrzak reported that ACT testing is scheduled for Wednesday, the blood drive is April 14, Honors Night is May 5, seniors' last day is May 8, and graduation will be May 17 at 2:00 PM.
Superintendent Mr. Zessin reported on an outdoor water leak at the elementary school and summarized a legislative change: LB 803 has passed the legislature and will take effect next year; per discussion, affected political subdivisions will hold a joint public hearing between July 1 and July 15 beginning 2027, and a pink postcard will be mailed to landowners whose valuations increase.
