At the April 28 work session planning staff presented a draft of proposed changes to the county’s conditional‑use permit (CUP) process intended to clarify when a CUP is required for housing placements.
The draft proposes that parcels of five acres or more not automatically require a CUP in some circumstances; excludes certain modular and stick‑built homes from CUP requirements on established lots; and would require health‑department clearances, required permits and standard public‑notice steps before a placement proceeds. Planning staff asked the county attorney to review the changes before the commission considers them for adoption.
County Manager Thomas Weaver said the planning board will forward final language and that the commission will keep the item on a future work session agenda for additional review and public input.
